Next activity – Presentation on How to raise Chickens at home

The 27^th of May at 1:00pm veterinarian Nicole Cormier will present the basics of what is needed to raise chickens in your backyard. The presentation will be at the offices of the Pays de Cocagne Sutainable Development Group. There will be an indoor presentation followed by a site visit of Nicole’s installation. This activity is bilingual.

Permaculture workshop -April 20th

Transition Cocagne will host a permaculture workshop on Friday April 20 from 1 :30pm to 4:30pm at the Centre 50 d’Âge d’Or, 10 rue Villa, Cocagne. Adrian Buckley of Big Sky Permaculture will present a refreshing look at planning your garden site for energy efficiency. Adrian will provide dozens of examples and ideas on creative ways to plan your site to help ensure the energy you spend is going to best effect.

We have confirmed a three hour permaculture workshop by Big Sky Permaculture www.bigskypermaculture.ca on April 20th. The workshop will focus on site planning using permaculture principles. Registration details will be available soon.

We are also investigating for workshops on natural plaster and cob oven building for this summer.

Gardeners meeting on march 15th

If you like gardening, there will be a get together on Thursday March 15th at 7:00 Pm to help plan the 2011 planting season. It is an informal meeting between gardeners who want to share their knowledge, tricks, and cherished varieties.

Bring your garden plan, leftover seeds, catalogues, and questions. The meeting will take place at the offices of the Pays de Cocagne Sutainable Development Group (4585 Route 134, Cocagne) You can invite your friends. BYOB

Transition Cocagne, an initiative of the Pays de Cocagne Sustainable Development Group, will be hosting a community breakfast featuring products from Southeastern NB, Sunday February 12th, 2012 from 8am to 12pm at the Club 50 d’Âge d’Or in Cocagne. Storm date Sunday February 19, 2012, same time, same place.
Tickets are available at Cocagne Variety and Eudore Melanson Rite Stop, Cocagne NB, Canada. The cost is 10$ for adults and 5$ for children (under 12).

Next workshop – Poutines râpées and Meat Pies

During the festive season we often indulge in poutines râpées and meat pies. Learn to make these with Ms Doris and Ms. Geneva at the Club 50 d’Âge d’Or de Cocagne, Sunday December 11, 2011 (storm date December 18).

At a cost of $25, this workshop will allow you to learn how to make poutines râpées and meat pies as well as have 4 poutines for supper (if your bring your own container).

Come discover and learn, Sunday December 11, 2011, 8:30am -2 pm, at Club d’Âge d’Or de Cocagne, from Route 535, Cocagne, NB. (bring your lunch)
